Demak Regency’s First Upstream Oil and Gas Well Set for Drilling as TIS Energy Begins Preparations for RBG-7

Press Release 08 October 2026

Demak, October 8, 2026 – The RBG-7 development well in Pilangwetan Village, Kebonagung District, Demak Regency, has entered the preparatory phase ahead of drilling. This progress was announced by the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Jabanusa Representative Office, together with Production Sharing Contract (PSC) contractor TIS Energy, the operator of the Blora Working Area, during a courtesy visit to the Regent of Demak and the regional government officials at Grhadika Bina Praja, the Demak Regent’s Office, on Thursday (October 8).

The visit was part of ongoing coordination between SKK Migas, TIS Energy, and the Demak Regency Government ahead of the commencement of drilling activities. During the meeting, SKK Migas and TIS Energy provided updates on the project’s preparations and operational readiness for field implementation.

The initial phase will involve Drilling Site Preparation (DSP), including the construction of the rig access road. This work is essential to facilitate the mobilization of the drilling rig and associated equipment to the RBG-7 well site.

Head of the SKK Migas Jabanusa Representative Office, Anggono Mahendrawan, emphasized that coordination with local governments is crucial to ensuring that upstream oil and gas activities are carried out safely, orderly, and in a conducive environment.

“We appreciate the support and coordination provided by the Demak Regency Government. This drilling project is part of our efforts to maintain and increase national oil and gas production while supporting the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s National Energy Security agenda. Therefore, from the earliest stages of preparation, we continue to promote effective communication and coordination with local governments and communities to ensure that all activities proceed safely, orderly, and deliver meaningful benefits,” Anggono said.

SKK Migas also reaffirmed that safety, operational continuity, and community acceptance remain key considerations throughout every stage of upstream oil and gas operations.

TIS Energy General Manager Heri Suryanto stated that the company is ready to commence the initial preparation phase for the RBG-7 development well through Drilling Site Preparation activities.

“As the operator, we are ready to undertake the initial preparations for drilling the RBG-7 development well, which will be the first upstream oil and gas well drilled in Demak Regency. This phase will begin with the construction of the rig access road, an important step in ensuring that the supporting infrastructure is ready before drilling activities commence. We will continue to maintain strong relationships with the Demak Regency Government and all stakeholders to ensure that the project is implemented smoothly, safely, and in a conducive environment,” Heri said.

Throughout the project, TIS Energy will prioritize communication and coordination with the local government and communities surrounding the operational area. Social considerations, safety, and environmental protection will also remain central to every stage of the work.

In her remarks, Demak Regent dr. Hj. Eisti’anah, S.E., welcomed the visit by SKK Migas and TIS Energy as an opportunity to strengthen coordination between the regional government and upstream oil and gas industry stakeholders.

“We all understand that the development of Demak’s first gas well is part of the broader effort to support national energy security. Therefore, any potential natural resources that can contribute to national energy availability must be managed properly and professionally, while continuing to prioritize safety and environmental sustainability. Such activities should also contribute to regional fiscal revenues, stimulate economic growth, and generate social benefits through Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSLP) programs,” the Regent said.

The Regent also highlighted the importance of effective communication with local communities, particularly as field activities begin.

“In principle, the Demak Regency Government is ready to provide support and facilitation within its authority. We expect all parties to work professionally and maintain intensive coordination and communication,” she added.

With the commencement of Drilling Site Preparation, TIS Energy, SKK Migas, and the Demak Regency Government will continue to strengthen coordination to ensure technical, social, and operational readiness ahead of drilling at RBG-7.

The RBG-7 drilling project represents part of TIS Energy’s efforts to optimize the potential of Indonesia’s oil and gas resources while supporting the sustainability of national oil and gas production.
